Jacob Pang
I'm a hardware product manager at Wyze. I've taken multiple products from concept to launch, I'm technical enough to work closely with our engineers, and I've built and run my own companies.
Work
What I've been working on, at Wyze and on my own time.
Wyze smart scales
I'm the PM for Wyze's smart scale lineup, covering the hardware, firmware, app, and cloud. I've owned multiple scale launches end to end, including the Wyze Scale BodyScan in June 2026.
On each launch I work directly with our engineers and our manufacturing partner. I write the PRD, set the schedule, take the scale through every build from EVT to mass production, and push back when a build isn't ready. I also run the beta program and decide which fixes go into the launch firmware and which ship later as an update.

The app redesign
I led a redesign of the scale experience in the Wyze app. Along with the interviews, I polled 500+ users on the features and design changes they wanted to see, and went through our analytics, App Store reviews, and support tickets to figure out what needed to change. Then I wrote it up into requirements for the team.
Wyze's online store, 2023–2025
Before moving into product, I was an Operations Manager helping run Wyze's online store. I ran A/B tests on the storefront and checkout, managed our paid ads, and improved how we handled orders and inventory.

Scrobblie
500+daily active users
Scrobblie is a Last.fm scrobbler for iPhone and iPad that I designed and built on my own. The iOS scrobblers I tried were low quality and barely counted as scrobblers, so I made my own around the look and features I wanted.

How it works
iOS doesn't let apps see what you're playing in the background, so getting scrobbles to show up reliably was the hardest part. Scrobblie has four different ways of getting a play to Last.fm, so if one misses, another one picks it up.
How a play reaches Last.fm
- Livewhile the music plays
- Nudgeeven with the app closed
- Backgroundwhenever iOS allows
- Catch-upnext time you open it
Honcho Dashboard
Honcho is a memory layer for AI agents, and I run my own instance at home. The existing dashboard was good, but it didn't quite fit what I wanted in terms of looks and features, so I built my own and open-sourced it.

I've been running my own servers at home for over ten years. These days it runs a local AI model on an RTX 5090 and my own Honcho instance, which I use every day for writing PRDs and thinking through product decisions. I used it to help put this site together, too.

E-commerce
$1M+combined revenue
Before Wyze, I spent about five years building and running my own e-commerce brands, some dropshipping, some private label. I handled pretty much all of it myself.
Dropshipping $600K+Private label $400K+
What I did
- Product research, sourcing, and working with suppliers
- Pricing and go-to-market
- Shopify storefronts and brand systems
- Paid acquisition on Meta and Google
- Improving products based on customer feedback
How I work
A few things I try to stick to, whether it's a scale, an app, or this site.
Real data first
I'd rather hook something up to real data first and make it pretty after. A working flow tells you a lot more than a mockup does.
Root cause first
I try not to patch over problems I don't understand yet. Figure out what's actually broken, then fix that.
Design the unhappy paths
Loading, empty, and error states are part of the product. The happy path is the easy part.
Honest interfaces
Only show what the system actually knows. No fake numbers, statuses, or buttons that don't do anything.
Plan the structure first
Spend the time on architecture up front. It's a lot cheaper than refactoring later.
